Redhorse Muziklaban

The Redhorse beer Muziklaban XIII. Jan 28, 2012. I normally pass up on this event, but having problems with some projects at work, it's time for a beer break anyway. Security is a bit tight at the gates. Baton equipped anti-riot posse and cops in uniform all over makes you feel secure.

There's a lot going on at the area. Graffiti wall, tattoo booth, bar with a live band playing, BMX stunt riders strutting their stuff at a funbox, quarter pipe and a half pipe. Roving ice cold REDHORSE beer refill is available at 20bucks a glass.

The crowd have already set up camp early on!

Huge stage and lots of wide screen displays. It's the first time I'm going to a punk concert this big. There's a big gap between the stage and the crowd though, stage dives ain't gonna happen here.

The Muziklaban main stage.

The event was kicked off with an all-star opening number. Razorback, Slapshock, Jett Pangan, Pepe Smith, Ely Buendia, Greyhoundz got the crowd off to a good warm up session. The event was hosted by Julia Clarete and Francis Brew Reyes.

The competition proper is a collaboration between an established performer and the finalist. Leviticus + Wilabaliw, Zephaniah + Razorback, Mind of Clay + Mark Abaya, David vs Goliath + Greyhoundz. The big dosh was eventually won by David vs Goliath.

The downer on the show is that there was a huge break between the Opening + Finals and the Announcement of winners. They should have filled the gap with more performances from the previous winners, or who ever, just to keep the music ripping instead of what seems hours of non-stop "Redhorse anthem".

The show was also graced by Lovi Poe - Redhorse Beer endorser.

Juan Dela Cruz band still has it! The crowd went nuts when they did the classics ... Teachers enemy #1, Balong malalim, Wally's blues, Beep beep. Up next were Maria Cafra and Freddie Aguilar family.

Overall, it was great fun. Plenty music and lots of booze. Totally appeals to the classic rock and punk rock crowd. You have to be careful on your way out, you might step on our wasted buddies lying on the ground. See you again next year!
